Living in separate worlds, a bunch of mixed up boys and girls
Scattered and fallen like rain - so much confusion, separation and pain
Where to go, where to start - wanting to shift the trend of lifetimes apart...
Apart . . .
Apart - we are a bunch of chaotic e-mails, voice-mails and texts
Apart - we are rolling, rocking maniacs, living in the effects
Apart - we are just workaholics with aching arms and necks
Apart - we honk and scream at each other - from the safety of our car
Apart - we measure and compare religions, procuring the feathers and the tar
Apart - we judge the differences, and set everyone aside ... as near as the farthest star
Apart - we are sad and lonely, so ready to cut off, dislocate, relocate, sever
Apart - we forget that we've danced this separation dance forever
Apart - it's hard to imagine compassion and connection - a lifetime together...
Together . . .
Together - we remember what is real and what is true
Together - we share the scissors, the paper mache, the Elmer's glue
Together - we don't have to question, we just know what to do
Together - we live from the heart, seeing no enemies, no foe
Together - there are no punishments required, no debts that are owed
Together - we drink from the same river and share in the abundant flow
Together - we are brothers and sisters, and one in spirit and in mind
Together - we drop the e-mails, voice-mails and texts behind
Together - we heal the backs, necks, bodies and all that makes us blind
Yes, living in this physical world, all of us - boys and girls
Droplets of rain, striving to be, streaming directly into the one infinite sea
Ready to embrace a brand new start - in a unity of which we've always been a part
You know how much I love this poem! I am so glad you posted it to share with the world!
